- Cannot be billed without 99490 in the same calendar month
- Limited to a maximum of 2 units per calendar month
Who can bill
- Physicians and non-physician practitioners directing the clinical staff who furnish the service
Eligibility & billing requirements
- Same eligibility as 99490
- 99490 must be billed first for the same month
- Only reported after the first 20-minute threshold (99490) has been met
When to use it
Extra coordination for a medication change
After the first 20 minutes, staff spend another 20 minutes coordinating a new prescription with the pharmacy and updating the care plan.
