Part of Community Health Integration
HCPCS G0022: Community Health Integration, each additional 30 minutes
Add-on code for each additional 30 minutes of community health integration time beyond the G0019 threshold.
Time threshold & code combinations
Each additional 30 minutes of auxiliary personnel time, beyond G0019, per calendar month.
- Cannot be billed without G0019 in the same calendar month
- Can be reported more than once if additional 30-minute increments are met and documented
Who can bill
- Physicians
- Non-physician practitioners eligible to bill E/M services (via auxiliary personnel under general supervision)
Eligibility & billing requirements
- Same eligibility as G0019
- G0019 must be billed first for the same month
- Only reported after the first 60-minute threshold (G0019) has been met
When to use it
Extended follow-up on a food-insecurity referral
After the first 60 minutes, the community health worker spends another 30 minutes following up with a food pantry referral and confirming the patient enrolled.
Billing: G0019 + G0022
Documentation checklist
- Time log showing the additional 30-minute increment
- Confirmation that G0019 was met first in the same month
Common billing mistakes
- Billing G0022 without a qualifying G0019 in the same month
- Rounding up to claim an additional 30-minute increment that wasn't actually met
